Welcome to Episode 11 of Quirky Cooking Chats (Season 2), with Jo Whitton: "Working Through Anxiety - Part 2"
{VOTE for Quirky Cooking in the ORIAS Awards: https://bit.ly/QCvoteforme}
Anxiety is a normal part of life - we all go through it at one time or another and usually it hangs around for a while then moves on... But sometimes anxiety really digs its' heels in and refuses to leave, causing a chronic state of stress, low energy, lack of motivation and a feeling of helplessness. This is a time to get some professional help and support so that it doesn't take you down the rabbit hole towards depression.
In this episode, Jo talks about:
- How the practice of gratitude reduces anxiety
- Taking time out to just 'breathe' (and let your soul catch up to your body!)
- Mindfulness and contemplation
- Journaling and the magical “brain dump”
- Writing for release and creativity
- Planning: your day, your week, your meals, your goals
- What lights you up? Do what you love!
- Resting without resentment
- How to get a good night's sleep
- Blocking out the online noise
- Stop comparing your real life to others' highlights!
- Learning to switch off
- Knowing this won't be forever - be gentle with yourself and take the time you need to heal
[This topic will be continued next week with an interview with naturopath Jules Galloway on the medical/nutritional advice for anxiety. If you have any questions you'd like to ask Jules, please email [email protected].]
